We're two down, three to go!
The last week (and-then-some) has flown by. The cast and crew is behind on homework and running on caffeine... but tonight's STANDING OVATION was worth it, wouldn't you think?
Opening night went well, with a good performance and a good audience -- there was a bit of laughter at the comic relief, and quite a few tears by the end. The cast and crew managed to shave off 17 minutes of the show between the Preview and the first show, a result from the everyone working on their pick-ups and some extra scene-shift practice. Performance number two had a more energetic audience; sometimes their laughter was a bit surprising, but by end we could hear sobs over the monitor up in the booth.
The whole team is really doing a great job. You know that something was done right when the crew has to have tissues backstage for the last scene!

I've just returned home from the Saturday night performance of Bent, and felt compelled to leave you all a thank you note. So thank you. I don't think I've ever been this moved by theatre before. I was emotionally stunned, shaken. At the end, when we broke into a spontaneous (and well-deserved!) standing ovation, my legs wouldn't support me; my vision was blurry with tears. You have broken down barriers with this production, its value should not be underestimated. May we never forget what those who came before us had to endure, when we have so many civil liberties in the 21st century to take for granted.
Congratulations to the superb cast and crew - a flawless production that suspended my senses, had me enthralled and touched my heart in the most profound way. Take a bow, everyone!
